Today at 2pm local time, we left our hotel by bus to go to the provincial civil affars office and finally meet Ocie. Our travel group had waited all day to get to this point and the bus was buzzing with expectations, anticipation and good old nerves. Filing into the room was surreal. Babies from other groups were already with their new parents and there was laughing, crying and cheers going on all around. Within a few minutes they began calling names of parents in our group to receive their babies. It was a privledge to watch people who we had just met the day before experience this great day.
When our names were called and they handed Ocie to us, it felt better than we could have ever imagined. She was vey calm and immediately was looking us in the eyes with no fear. When Marcia, Jack and Mo came up to her she engaged all of them as well.Ocie was quite a trooper!
While we waited for the opportunity to to ask questions of the head nanny from the orphanage, Ocie took about a 40 min nap on her Papa's chest. She woke up for the ride home and watched the crazy Guangzhou traffic, through the bus window.
